Thousands Raised at London Marathon

Share

The Turn2us running team of six had a fantastic day at the London Marathon. All of our runners finished the 26.2 mile distance in between four and six hours and have so far raised over £11K.

Well done to our runners:

They are all Turn2us heroes and we are hugely indebted to them.

On the day, more than 39,400 people completed the gruelling journey from Blackheath to Westminster. The course record was broken, 39 Guinness World Records were made, and David Weir clinched a record-breaking seventh London Marathon title.

The day’s oldest runner was 83 year-old Ken Jones, who completed his 37th consecutive London Marathon in 6:41:39.

Rehman Chishti MP beat Alun Cairns MP to be the fastest politician of the day, with times of 3:34:22 and 3:36:45 respectively.

Jackie Scully and Duncan Sloan tied the knot at 07:30 on the Cutty Sark before starting the race. The groom completed the track two and a half hours before the bride.

Vikings, nuns and elves all competed in fancy dress, but it was Joe Spraggins who became the fastest marathon runner dressed as a swimmer with a time of 2:42:24.
