Transitional Amount

This is an amount to top up your Universal Credit so that you are not worse off than you were under legacy benefits.  However, you will only get a transitional amount if you move to Universal Credit by managed migration.  

If you go off Universal Credit, the transitional amount will stop. Read our guide on Universal Credit Transitional Protection for more information.

You will not get a transitional amount if you move by ‘natural migration’.
